    SUBJECT: Problems capturing footage
Hi I am editing major student, and have been using Avid Xpress Pro for a while, I just got my hands on the new HD version, and have been messing with that. I just took on a project that was shot on the Cannon XL1. The DP did not have the camera with him, and he gave me a Panasonic PV-DV53D, to log/capture the footage. Everytime I load up Xpress it does not recoginze the camera/deck. It is listed as one of the models, in the Deck Configuration The camera is showing up on my control pannel, so I know the computer is recognizign it. Just to make sure I installed the Premire Pro 1.5, and it worked, it can regozie the camera and caputre, but not with Xpress Pro.
Any suggestions to what is wrong, or what I should try would be greatly appreciated.

One of the primary DLL(Dynamic Link Library) files for Avid Xpress Pro has moved in the new 5.x releases.

It should reside only at Program Files/Common Files/Avid.

    The file name is dvbuffers.ax

do a search on your harddrive for both dvbuffers and dvbuffers.ax.

If this file resides on any other portion of the computer it can cause capture conflicts

If you see that file in the proper location the next thing to try is manually registering the file. To do this follow these steps:

    1. Right click on dvbuffers.ax
    2. Choose Open With...
    3. Browse to \Windows\System32
    4. Select Regsvr32.ex

Chargement...
