Salut Bill,
INPUTS
The PC115 has virtually all inputs/outs you need and then some. In addition to analog A/V inputs and outs, including S-Video, the camcorder also has an i.Link Digital Interface (FireWire, IEEE1394), a two-way input/output that carries digital audio, digital video and control signals to compatible digital VCRs, edit controllers and computers.
The i.Link allows to not only transfer video and sound information, but also extended information (data code, etc.) and control the camcorder remotely (i.e. by your video editing software). Speaking of editing software, you can get the solution like is Pinnacle Systems Studio DV for less than $80. It includes a 3-port FireWire PCI card, a FireWire cable in addition to an easy-to-use video editing software. The finished material can be written back to the camcorder, to a MPEG or AVI file or/and prepared for streaming over the Internet.
The PC115 has inputs for a microphone and headphones and an intelligent Accessory Shoe. There is also an L (LANC) Editing Interface that provides standardized connection for synchronized operation of camcorder, VCR, and edit controller; a USB jack for transferring still images from MemoryStick to your computer.
