Canon C300 Mark II, une mise à jour complète

La C300 semble avec cette nouvelle mouture 4K en 10 bits/4:2:2 avec de plus un enregistrement Full HD à 120 images/seconde et une sortie 4K RAW, avoir complètement résolu ses problèmes de jeunesse et propose sur le papier manifestement de quoi séduire les professionnels exigeants. Prix approximatif autour de 15000 euros. Faisons le tour de ce modèle très très attendu.

2 Processeurs Digic DV5, la mise à jour de la puissance de calcul

Un équipement renforcé en terme de processeurs avec ses 2 Digic DV5 capable de traiter les informations du nouveau capteur super 35 (à 8,85 Millions de pixels utiles) deux fois plus rapidement qu'auparavant.

Le rolling shutter devrait pour la même raison aussi s'en trouver nettement atténué.

Nouveau capteur super 35 plus sensible

Le nouveau capteur est vanté comme plus sensible (en tout cas Canon annonce une sensibilité permettant de tourner à 102 400 iso ;-) )
La plage dynamique est annoncée pour 15 diaphs...

Enregistrement interne 4K 4:2:2 10 bits

L'enregistrement 4K se fait en interne jusqu'à 30 images/s en 4K DCI 4096x2160 et en UHD 3840x2160 en 10 bits 4:2:2 avec un débit sur la carte jusque 410 Mb/s.

Canon a manifestement très bien entendu le message que les vidéastes lui avaient envoyé en réclamant du 10 bits. 

Ralenti en Full HD

Ralenti à la cadence de 120 im/s en full HD en 10 ou 12 bits jusqu'au 4:4:4

Nouveaux codecs Canon au standard MXF et fondés sur la compression H264

Pour réussir l'enregistrement de tout cela, Canon a fait développer une nouvelle gamme de codecs tous à base de H264 et au standard MXF comme d'habitude chez Canon.
un XF-AVC Intra pour le 4K, le XF-AVC Long Gop et les options Proxy pour la HD

Support d'enregistrement Cfast 2.0 et sortie RAW

Pour les plus hauts débit (jusque 410 Mbits/s en 4K) l'enregistrement interne se fait sur des cartes CFast 2.0 (2 emplacements)
En parallèle on peut enregistrer sur un enregistreur séparé le signal 4K RAW
Par ailleurs les données proxy HD peuvent être exportées simultanément sur une carte SD (en 8 bits). Ceci permettant donc d'uploader rapidement en wifi ce proxy.

Colorimétrie avancée

La caméra est en capacité d'utiliser différents espaces couleurs (BT 2020, Cinema Gamut Canon, DCI-P3) et offre aussi naturellement des réglages manuels complets.

Autofocus "Double Pixel" amélioré

Le focus automatique "à double pixel" (plébiscité sur la C100) est amélioré pour couvrir jusque 80% de la surface de l'image.
Un système de reconnaissance de visages est aussi de la partie.

Télécommande par wifi et par cable

Une télécommande par wifi est implémentée ainsi qu'une autre par câble de type RC-V100.

Monture optique à choisir en option (EF, PL)

La monture optique standard EF peut être remplacée par une bayonnette à "verrouillage cinéma" ou bien en monture PL.

Le son 24 bits / 48 khz est là

Autre nouveauté le son est enregistrable sur 4 canaux en qualité 16 ou 24 bits et jusque 48 khz

Disponibilité annoncée 3ème trimestre 2015 et prix approximatif autour de 15 200 euros.

L'appellation C300 signifie que Canon surfe sur le succès du 1er modèle C300 (qui s'est très bien vendu notamment grâce à son ergonomie innovante mais surtout grâce à la gamme d'optique disponibles Canon)  tout en revoyant complètement sa copie au niveau des caractéristiques. Longtemps attendue cette nouvelle caméra va certainement  renforcer la présence de Canon chez les pros notamment d'abord chez les loueurs auxquels ce prix est plus particulièrement dédié.
